Bonanza Pt.2: Tradition Reimagined, Cultures United, Voices Unveiled

January 01, 2026 in Music

It began as a conversation between generations.

Inside the walls of Roby Studio, where knobs remember every sound they’ve ever shaped, an idea started to grow—quietly at first. Not just another project, not a sequel chasing the shadow of the first, but a return. A return to memory, to movement, to roots that stretch from Congo to Canada.

DJ Mr. Skitovich arrived with more than beats this time. He arrived with stories he hadn’t yet spoken out loud.

Bonanza Pt.2 unfolds like a journey across time and place. The album opens its doors to childhood streets in Congo, where laughter, dust, and melody live side by side. In “Je Me Présente,” memory speaks—introducing not just an artist, but a life shaped by migration, resilience, and rhythm passed down like inheritance. The past isn’t nostalgic here; it’s alive, breathing through basslines and melodies.

As the project moves forward, fashion becomes language. “Il Était Comment” isn’t just about style—it’s about identity, presentation, and the quiet power of being seen. Every sound feels dressed with intention, stitched together by Roby Studio’s signature polish, where each track is produced, mixed, and mastered as if it carries history in its bones.

Then comes love and hope—soft, patient themes that glide through the album, reminding the listener that even in displacement, beauty survives. Mr. Skitovich’s voice emerges in unexpected ways, revealing a range no one knew was there. Where the first Bonanza leaned into hip-hop and rap’s heavy edges, this chapter opens the chest and lets melody speak. Vulnerability becomes strength.

But Bonanza Pt.2 does not turn away from pain.

In “Mabele,” the album confronts the reality of Balkanization in Eastern Congo—fragmentation, loss, and unanswered questions. The track doesn’t shout; it stands firm. It lets the weight of the subject rest on rhythm, allowing rumba’s emotional depth to carry the truth forward. This is music as witness.

At its core, Bonanza Pt.2 is rooted in Congolese rumba—the soul of movement, storytelling, and community. But it refuses to stay still. Modern amapiano pulses through its veins, and a Canadian sensibility reshapes the space around it. The result is not fusion for the sake of trend, but evolution born of lived experience.

By the final track, it’s clear: this is not just an album.

Bonanza Pt.2 is a bridge—between continents, generations, and versions of self. A reminder that sound can travel further than borders, that culture can adapt without breaking, and that sometimes, the most powerful voice is the one finally ready to be heard.
