Accelerate partners with Afros in tha City as Media Partner for the Launch of Accelerate Plus

April 17, 2024

Accelerate, Nigeria’s leading digital, lifestyle, and entertainment platform powered by Access Bank, has announced the launch of Accelerate Plus, its premier subscription video on-demand platform aimed at showcasing Africa’s beauty, richness, and cultural nuances.

In a strategic move, Accelerate has partnered with Afros in tha City, a renowned media platform celebrating African culture and creativity, to promote and amplify the diverse narratives and talents featured on Accelerate Plus.

Kimberley Dooshima Jev, Global Head of Afros in tha City, expressed excitement about this new era of partnership and growth between media based in Africa and the diaspora. She said,

"This partnership marks a pivotal moment in bridging the gap between media entities in Africa and the diaspora. It represents a collaborative effort to elevate African stories and talents on a global stage, showcasing the vibrant culture and creativity that unites us across continents."

The Accelerate platform boasts a range of fan favorites such as The Shade Corner, Visa on Arrival, and The Olive, among other exclusive shows, all carefully curated to offer high-quality African content accessible on mobile devices.

Colette Otusheso, Chief Executive Officer of Accelerate, emphasized the significance of Accelerate Plus in shaping an authentic African narrative globally.

"Accelerate Plus is more than a platform for African content for us. It serves as a catalyst for highlighting and promoting an undiluted African narrative in the face of global misconceptions. For this purpose, we have taken deliberate steps to curate authentic and exciting content for Africa by Africans, as well as to create a portal for the rest of the world to access premium African content from anywhere in the world."

"Accelerate is determined to create a hub of positive entertainment and empowering content where diverse stories and experiences are told and shared to spark meaningful and transformative conversations."

Accelerate Plus offers convenient and affordable subscription plans, with options for annual and monthly subscriptions, including auto-renewal. Subscribers worldwide can access the platform for $54.99 annually or $4.99 monthly. Within Nigeria, Access Bank account holders can subscribe for N100 monthly, while non-Access Bank account holders can join for N500 monthly.

Accelerate Plus is poised to become the go-to destination for authentic African content, featuring Accelerate original productions alongside a diverse selection of TV shows, dramas, and lifestyle content from across the continent.
